This week starts the first week of a series of posts I’ll be writing about why you should hire a wedding planner. I thought I’d start first with why you should hire a full service wedding planner. I think a lot of brides get excited at the beginning of the wedding planning process and want to be in control of every single detail. But, when they get deep into the process it can get overwhelming and it’s easy to get burnt out. There is a lot that goes into planning a wedding and it’s easy for brides to underestimate the amount of time and energy it takes to plan a wedding. So, why not let a planner take care of all of the stress and logistics so you can actually enjoy the process? The list of ways a full service planner will help you on your wedding planning journey is endless. I would be in front of this computer for hours if I had to list them all! So, I’ve picked a few of the most important ways a full service planner will help you out. Enjoy 🙂
Saves You Money
I know you’re asking yourself how will hiring a planner save me money? Isn’t that just adding another expense to our list? Yes, hiring a planner is an added expense, but the amount of money the planner will save you throughout the wedding planning process will be worth it! Wedding planners work closely with vendors and form relationships with them. Because of these relationships, your planner will be able to negotiate better prices for vendor services than if you went at it on your own.
A planner can also save you money by helping you avoid costly mistakes. They’ve been through the wedding planning process many many times (it is their job after all). Therefore, they know what you should and shouldn’t be spending your money on and where you should be spending it.
Most importantly, a planner can help you create a budget and stick to it! Most planners will create a spreadsheet that breaks down all of the wedding expenses and how much of your budget should be allocated to each expense. This gives you and your groom, as well as the planner a clear idea of how money should be spent. Then, the planner will make sure everyone actually sticks to the budget.
Picks the Right Vendors
Since planners work closely with other vendors they know what vendors are going to work well for your wedding and who will give you the most for your money. No matter how much research you do on your own, it is hard to truly know what kind of service you are going to end up getting. You can rest assured that the vendor your planner recommends is going to provide great service and you don’t have to worry about things like the vendor not showing up on your big day. Since the planner has to work with the vendor, the planner is not going to recommend a vendor that isn’t reliable or doesn’t provide great service.
You Can Have A Life Outside Of Planning
It is very easy for the wedding planning process to become a full time job. Imagine working your regular full time job only to come home to start another full time job of planning. That leaves little to no time to get anything else in your life done. Planning a wedding is an exciting time in life, but it doesn’t have to take over your life. When you hire a planner, you are still involved in the wedding planning process, but you still have time to enjoy time with your friends and family, take care of other things going on in your life, or just take some time to relax!
Handles The Logistics So You Can Focus On The Fun Parts
Like I said above, if you hire a planner, you can participate in planning the wedding, but also have a life outside of wedding planning too. Sure, some aspects of wedding planning are fun. Who wouldn’t enjoy trying on beautiful dresses, tasting delicious cakes, and designing gorgeous floral arrangements? But putting together timelines, taking care of every little crisis, and planning all of the logistics – not so fun. So why not participate in the fun parts of planning and leave the not so fun parts to someone else!
Takes Stress Away
Weddings come with a lot of stress. It’s just a fact. Whether it’s dealing with vendors or difficult family members – something is going to come up. A wedding planner will deal with all of that stress for you. That way you don’t have to deal with vendors when you should be focusing on your day or be put in the uncomfortable position of trying to please family members.
I’ve heard so many stories from couples that have planned their wedding themselves and by the end of the process, they just wanted the wedding to be over. Instead of enjoying the process, all of the stress fell on the couple to deal with. You and your groom should be able to enjoy this time in your lives. Being extremely stressed is not a good way to start off your marriage.
Will Take Care Of The Last Minute Crisis That Pops Up
There will be a last minute crisis. No matter how carefully you have planned every last detail. It’s just a fact. Do you want to be dealing with vendors or frantic family members calling you while your trying to get ready? Heck no! You want to sip on your mimosa and have fun with your bridesmaids while you get your hair and makeup done. Am I right?!
Have A Team To Help With All Wedding Tasks
Some brides are lucky enough to have a ton of family and friends to help with all of the tasks leading up to and on the wedding day. Even so, having family and friends help with your wedding can get messy. You are going to need help planning your wedding, especially with set up on the day of. However, family and friends – even with the best of intentions- are not always going to be the most reliable. They have lives and things to take care of outside of your wedding and they want to be able to enjoy the wedding day as well so it’s kind of hard to get mad at them if they are not always on their A game.
Planners have a team to help with the wedding tasks. This is their job, so you know things are going to get done. Your planner and their team will be there on the wedding day to completely set up and break down your wedding so you can enjoy your day and not have to stress about cleaning up at the end of the night.
Makes Sure Everyone Sticks To The Timeline
The last thing you want on your wedding day is to be delayed because a vendor didn’t show up on time or you’re missing a groomsman. A planner will make sure that every vendor is at the ceremony or reception site on time, that everyone is accounted for, and everything runs according to schedule.
Helps You Focus Your Vision
Most brides have been planning their wedding since they were little girls. Once you got that ring on your finger, you probably went out and bought a bunch of bridal magazines and started pinning to your wedding board like crazy. You have a ton of great ideas for your wedding, but are you having trouble focusing your vision? A planner can help you with that! She can take all of your ideas and help you create a cohesive design.
